Fred Stillwagon owns the Youngstown Clearance Center as PMD Furniture Direct franchisee.  Needless to say, he is no stranger to the furniture business.  Fred’s father began the James & Weaver Office Furniture Outlet in 1925.  After Fred finished his collegiate career in business administration – two years at Vincennes University and another two at Indiana State University – he went into business with his father.  Fred carried on his father’s legacy and ran the James & Weaver Office Furniture Outlet until 2002.  Nearly eight years later, became Power Marketing Direct licensee in July 2008 and a PMD Furniture Direct franchisee in September 2009.

Fred is married to Karen, who works in human resources.  Together they have five children.  Their children are:  Amy who lives in Sandusky with two children and another on the way; Doug, who lives in the outskirts of Chicago; David, a restaurant/bar owner in Youngstown who earned a degree in criminal justice from Kent State University; and finally Dean and Alexis, who are 15 and 11 respectively.  When Fred has the time, he admits he enjoys traveling, golf and working in his yard.

Why did Fred join PMD?  “Because of the opportunities to do something out of the norm,” he said.  “It seemed like a good quality business and the people were the right kind of people for me.”

And as for Fred’s business and life goals.  “My goal is to make as much money as possible, to listen to various people involved in the business and gain ideas from them,” Fred said.  In the meantime, Fred is working extremely hard to eventually “retire to the life of luxury.”

The Youngstown Clearance center proudly serves Youngtown, which is nestled in Mahoney County, Ohio.  The store specializes in mattresses, living rooms and bedrooms, sold under the Royal Heritage Home Furnishing brand.
